MEAL DEAL INFO
We know this fee may seem significant at first to many parents, but we want to take the time and answer some questions you may have about it. In our experience, parents usually ended up spending more during the season when the band stopped at restaurants on the way to games.
Using this approach to meals for away games and contests allows for much easier logistics on the part of students and parents. Essentially, we will have a meal catered to the band hall, or another location, that we are able to quickly pass out to students. It is often very difficult to find bus parking near restaurants and get kids through those lines quickly enough to stay on schedule.
The Meal Deal does not cover home games. Students are expected to provide their own dinner, since there is ample time between school release and call time. For students who stay at the school, we will usually offer some kind of meal at our concessions on these days at 5:00pm at a reduced price.
In order for us to provide catering, our band boosters are in the position of having to purchase these meals. However, they are not in the position to cater to a large number of students without collecting funds. Regarding cost, we are on par with most programs our size. Many programs are even charging quite a bit more than we are.
THE FULL AMOUNT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE PAID RIGHT AWAY. Partial payments may be made throughout the year. Balances will be reflected in Presto. All we ask from students is that they bring a little money each week. When averaged out, each of the meals comes out to between $10-$15.
All meals will be purchased for all students. If you believe you should not be charged for a particular meal, or if you would like to opt your student out of the Meal Deal, please just email Mr. Olson.
All students are automatically enrolled in the Meal Deal at the beginning of the season. If you choose to opt out of the Meal Deal, you agree that you and your student will be responsible for bringing their own meals to games and contests.
We absolutely want every student to be able to eat. If you have any financial concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out and let us know. We will meet whatever need that we can.
The Meal Deal fee may be paid for by fundraising. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Mr. Olson.
