About US
The Grandview Thundering Herd Band believes in providing every student with the opportunity to learn and engage with music within a positive environment that encourages students to strive for excellence. From grades 6 to 12, students are offered the opportunity to participate in concert band, colorguard, jazz band, marching band, chamber ensembles, and solos at concerts and competitions.
The Thundering Herd band is among the largest student organizations in the district, composed of around 200 students at both the Junior High and High School. We can be seen in the community playing at football games, giving concerts, marching in parades, and supporting other activities within and near Grandview.
The Thundering Herd Band believes in striving for excellence both as a group and on an individual level. We hope for every student to walk away with an appreciation for music as well as for having a strong work ethic for any aspect of their life. We aim to create leaders within the community and to teach life skills such as dedication and collaboration while teaching students to take pride in their work. We hope for every student to find success in all of their activities and academics.
The Grandview Band has been a UIL State Marching Finalist, a consistent finalist within the UIL Area Marching Band Contest, has received numerous Superior ratings on stage at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading competition. The program has also seen numerous students advance regularly to the ATSSB All-State Bands and State Solo & Ensemble competitions.
